Even after two full months of high-energy basketball, the top-ranked Rome High girls are giving no indications that they are slowing down anytime soon.

Rather, they seem to be picking up more steam as they go along.

The Lady Wolves kept their perfect season humming along on Friday night by routing Cass, 76-32, in a 7-AAAA contest at Rome.

Mauri Wells scored 19 points and Desiree Scott and Jodie Tatum added 10 each for the Lady Wolves (18-0, 8-0), who had a total of 10 players reach the scoring column.

Rome outscored Cass 25-8 in the first quarter and extended the lead to 45-22 at the half. It was more of the same in the third quarter, with the Lady Wolves outscoring Cass 17-2 to build a 38-point advantage.

The fourth quarter was shortened from eight minutes to six in accordance with the mercy rule.

Rome, incidentally, finished just 10-of-20 at the foul line, but that was about the only negative for the Lady Wolves.

Today, Rome will put its unbeaten mark on the line when the Lady Wolves travel to Starr’s Mill to face Sandy Creek.
